Danube and Morava Rivers levels falling, other rivers mostly stable

The central Flood Commission (UPK) recorded a drop in water levels along the entire Slovak section of the Danube River on April 7. Other Slovak river levels have either stabilised or are showing only slight rises. The UPK expects river levels in eastern Slovakia to stabilise or fall as well. Measurements taken on the Morava near Moravsky sv. Jan, in Slovakia's Trnava region, on the morning of April 7 showed a level of 5.61 metres, while the level on the Danube at Devin near Bratislava was 6.2 metres. During the course of the day, water management officials expect the third-degree flood-protection level currently in place on the Danube to be lifted, the TASR news agency reported.
