Dutch and EU constitution: two years after
28.05.2007
In 2005, about 63 per cent of Dutch voters cast their ballot against the EU constitution.
Now, the opinions have changed.
The poll indicated that the Dutch would prefer to remove paragraphs in the draft constitution which stipulate that European law supersedes national law. They also want EU member states to retain a veto right.
The Dutch do not oppose appointing a single minister of foreign affairs for the European Union nor do they object to the European flag.
A majority oppose EU membership for Turkey, according to the survey.
