Russia ratifies Burgas-Alexandroupolis

The Russian parliament’s lower house ratified on Wednesday an agreement between Russia, Bulgaria and Greece on cooperation in the construction of the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline.
The agreement was signed in Athens on March 15.
Russian Minister of Industry and Energy Viktor Khristenko, who presented the agreement in the State Duma for the
ratification, said that it provided conditions for the “uninterrupted transit of Russian oil to world markets”.

About the pipeline contract

The document envisages establishing the International Project Company (IPC) that will own the pipeline.
Russian companies will have a 51 percent stake in IPC, and Greek and Bulgarian companies 24.5 percent.
