AIM 2015: Holistic Approach For Asean Economic Community
14.01.2011
The ASEAN ICT Masterplan 2015 (AIM 2015) is a holistic approach to ICT development in order for ASEAN to
become an economic community by 2015.
Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said ICT development was crucial,
which was why the masterplan was developed in consultation with all stakeholders to chart out the priority areas
for ICT in the next five years.
"Similar to other regions, ASEAN is poised to embrace the future, riding on the wave of innovation and technology
that has brought wealth and prosperity to this region in the last decade," he said in his closing remarks at
the 10th ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting (Telmin), on Friday.
He said the strategic tool to chart the way forward for ICT development in ASEAN would be done through the
implementation of the actions and initiatives under each of the six strategic thrusts, namely economic
transformation, people empowerment and engagement, innovation, infrastructure development,
human capital development and bridging the digital divide.
